What’s the deal with Asessippi?
Asessippi is a small resort located right in the heart of Canada in the province of Manitoba. Don’t let the fact that no-one in Vancouver has ever heard of it put you off! Although it’s not the easiest resort to get to the journey is truly breath taking. You can either fly straight into Regina or jump on a Moose Tour with everyone else heading out on their own adventures. By doing the Moose tour you have the chance to get up close and personal with the Rocky Mountains as you make your way through to the picturesque town of Banff before taking the short flight to your winter destination.
Why Asessippi?
One of the reasons I chose Asessippi was that I loved the idea of being able to work in multiple locations with a tight knit group of people. Most of the amazing people you’ll encounter either working or visiting Asessippi are locals who go out of their way to treat you like family.
What did you do for work?
I was lucky enough to work a number of different jobs from ticket sales and cashier in the food court to operating the lifts out in the park. Due to the extreme weather conditions that can occur during the Winter they were more than happy to help us work in whichever area weather permitted.
What did you do when you weren’t working?
When I wasn’t working I took advantage of the free ski pass and rentals to hit the slopes any chance I got! We were even lucky enough to try snow biking which was an amazing opportunity not a lot of resorts are able to offer, especially for free. If you get tired of skiing there are plenty of other activities to get involved in the nearby area. We got the chance to take part in Canada’s favourite winter past times including ice skating, ice hockey curling and ice fishing. If you want something a little less physical exercise and more exhilarating you’re never far from a friendly local waiting to show off their snow mobile and let you go for a ride!
What was the best thing about your time at Asessippi?
The best thing about Asessippi was the people and the atmosphere in the resort. There was an amazing group of Kiwis and Aussies that were kindly adopted for the season by the locals, many who I am still in close contact with today!
